1949 Plymouth Convertible

Although the car came with a woodgrain dash, I decided to use the original dash. So, a little sandblasting and some paint, and it now matched the exterior & interior of the car. A little more correct than the woodgrain dash. (Sorry, the woodgrain dash is already sold)

As you can see, the wires were a real mess. So, I spent a few evenings sorting out and inspecting each wire for damage. I replaced connectors where needed and used heat shrink tubing to repair the frayed areas. I used about 85% of the original wires. Note the coffee mug. Lots of late night work.

Several pictures during disassembly really helped during re-wire of the refurbished instruments.

The first stages of re-painting the instrument panel.

Original glove box still in useable condition. I cleaned it and used a little Armour all, and it looks almost new.

A few good coats of Rustoleum after primer, and the dash is almost as good as new.

I color sanded and then sprayed a couple coats of clearcoat prior to installation. Then a few hours buffing with Mcguiers #3 polishing wax.

I know the brake pedal seal is not installed correctly. I only put it there so it wouldn't get lost.

An NOS speedometer ready to begin at 0 miles. I now have accurate milage on the rebuilt engine and transmission.

The fully installed instrument panel as it is today.
